Get Away Almost Free

The City of Houston Municipals Courts opened their yearly amnesty program on Friday, Oct. 28, 2022. It will run through Friday, November 19, 2022. During this three week window anyone holding a citation, delinquent court appearance, failure to pay, and outstanding warrants can get them resolved without trial and the normal adjudication process.

Presiding Judge of the Houston Municipal Courts Department states the intention of the program is to assist people who haven’t managed their money well enough to pay a fine. Obviously, this is a great opportunity for people to pay off their lingering minor criminal warrants, any moving or nontraffic violations, and theft or assault cases. Each case is eligible for resolution at a discounted rate, fee, or fine.

The program is limited and does not include parking citations, administrative violations, bond forfeitures, or civil cases.
